Located in Westside Village this remodel of a 900 square foot 1940's tract home was designed to accomodate a 21st century family's needs. The increased square footage was accomplished by extending the first floor space to the maximum turning an outdoor deck into a Family Room and building up two stories to add a Master Suite and a 3rd floor Office/Guest Suite. Project features include a dramatic Dining Room skylight with douglas fir ceiling, glass divider staircase, Master Dressing room with boutique style shoe shelves and cabinetry, European style master bath cabinets, custom light details and rooftop decks with city and western views. Finish materials were selected and detailed to express the modern aesthethic of the rennovated home. The material pallette included Macubu blue stone, sandstone, turquoise glass mosaic tile, multiple woods including douglas fir, maple and chocolate stained ash. A steel beam in the new Living area was exposed to visually connect to the skylight in the adjacent Dining Room. The triangular shaped lot provided inspiration for many of the home's custom features including triangular niches and a backyard treehouse with triangular door and window.
